Graphite Steel Rolls
Graphite steel rolls are composed mainly of pearlite with spherical graphite and some carbide. Graphite steel rolls are stronger cast iron rolls and harder than other steel rolls. The feature of graphite rolls that is better resistance to fire crack and scale adhesion.
Manufacturing process:
Graphite steel rolls are similar to semi-steel, and most of them are produced by the integral casting method. According to needs, the overflow composite process or centrifugal casting can also be used to produce composite graphite rolls whose outer layer is made of graphite steel and the core and roll diameters are made of alloy cast steel, such as the two-roll roughing roll of a hot strip continuous rolling mill.
The graphite steel roll ring is cast in the same way as the semi-steel roll ring. It is produced by centrifugal casting. The outer layer of the roll ring is graphite steel and the inner layer is ductile iron. It is necessary to propose a reasonable heat treatment system for graphite steel rolls for different purposes. The main requirements for roughing rolls are high thermal stability, strength, and plasticity. The requirements for middle rolling and finishing mill rolls are high hardness and wear resistance.
Graphite steel rolls are mainly used for large blooming mills, continuous billet rolling mills, large and medium section steel mills, rough rolling, intermediate rolling and fine rolling, small section steel and bar rough rolling.
Graphite Steel Rings
Graphite steel rings casting method using centrifugal casting production, the outer layer of the roll ring is graphite steel, the inner layer is ductile cast iron. Reasonable heat treatment system is proposed for graphite steel rings for different applications, the main requirements are thermal stability, strength, plasticity should be high, high hardness and wear resistance.
